Our History
The Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Hope was founded by Sr. Pauline Nyaguthii Kariuki in the Archdiocese of Kisumu at Olasi-Katolo location under Awasi Parish. The foundation was officially approved as a Public Association of Christ’s Faithful on 29th December 2015 with the Decree of His Grace Zacchaeus Okoth. Together with Sr. Pauline Kariuki, may God be blessed for the initial group of the Nine members of our Association who drafted our Statutes that now regulates our way of life and mission.
Our Spirituality
Our spirituality is to partake in the divine action of the Holy Spirit of animating our lives and that of our Sisters and sisters with hope by embodying the life example of St. Francis of Assisi, who with genuine openness to the will of God, dedicated his entire life in prayer and compassionate care for the lowly.
Charism
Our charism is to live and share the mystery of hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, together with him and with our Sisters and sisters in observance of the Holy Gospels.
Our Mission
Faithful to the inspiration of our origin,1 we make our own as Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Hope, the mission of restoring the whole physical, mental and spiritual health of our brothers and sisters through pastoral counselling, works of mercy, justice and peace, reconciliation and forgiveness, empowerment and liberation with an attitude of hospitality in Centers for the elderly, parishes, families, schools, hospitals, counselling centres and in response to the needs of the times.
Purpose
The purpose of our Association is to uplift our Sisters and sisters bearing heavy burdens of life through acts and messages of hope by means of pastoral counselling and hospitality, in order to strengthen their trust and love for God in joyful rediscovery of self and the meaning of their lives in the human family.
Our Patrons
The Patrons of the Association are; St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clair and our Lady Mother of Hope and good Counsel. We also honour in a special way: St. Bonaventure, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Elizabeth of Hungary and St. Joseph.
